Game Concept

A platformer that tells a story about a young boy, aged 7. The boy experiences have a nightmare and needs to escape from his fears. As the player, you must help the boy escape by traversing platforms and get him to safety. The message this game tries to convey is that home is where you feel most safe. When the boy starts to hear the music his mother plays for him when he's scary, he starts to remember that he's home and everything will be OK. When the player reaches to the end, a cut scene plays and pans to the music box, then the game ends.

Project Purpose

The game was developed for the Global Game Jam 2019. My team and I had 48 hours to come up with a game that fit the theme they gave us, which was "What home is to you". We had decided to create and develop Ascend, because it felt unique and also was tailored around the theme of the game jam. The why how we integrated the theme was by making the story all about how home meant safety and security to us. 

Responsibilities

For this project I was tasked with programming the Menus, also I made the particle effects for the monster. I also helped out with models.
